We the undersigned would like to request Birmingham City Council to increase the number of raised grass verges, and protection offered to the vulnerable pedestrians, on Pitmaston Road, especially from outside Robin Hood Academy until the junction with Wellfield Road and Hazelville Road B28. We would also welcome a greater presence of Police and Enforcement Officers to ensure cars are legally parked and so all pedestrians are made to feel safer and local residents are able to maintain constant access to their properties.

Background information

The grass verges and pavement also need protection from vehicles especially from outside Robin Hood Academy until Wellfield Road and Hazelville Road, including the junction where these roads meet. Half the pavement in this section is protected by wooden barriers, that are damaged in some places, whereas on the other side of the road pedestrians have absolutely no protection from vehicles, which often park on the grass verges and pavement. Several children have nearly been hit by cars who cannot see them when reversing on the pavement, causing anxiety for pedestrians, local residents, parents and children especially.

Some parents/carers also hold blue badges and need to park legally near school, but they are unable to do so due to illegal parking blocking the way.
